Where to look
Acidic conifer woods, often with spruce and sphagnum moss. Its habitat makes it important here.
What to notice
Rust-brown pointed cap, rust-coloured gills and yellowish bands on the stem. Young specimens may have cobweb-like veil remains.
Look closer: similar mushrooms
Other brown webcaps; do not collect small brown gilled mushrooms for food. Severe poisoning may have a delayed onset.
